FAQ
1. What makes the Taiga Pro unique?

The Taiga Pro stands out with its V-opening system that transforms the tent into a true panoramic deck-style space, and its 22 cm profile. Its innovative roll-up mosquito net system, positioned on the outside, allows you to open a 180° terrace with a completely unobstructed view. You enjoy an unrestricted viewing angle – ideal for photography enthusiasts. At nightfall, the mosquito net system protects you from insects while maintaining maximum visibility to enjoy the moon and stars.

2. What does the Taiga Pro's 22 cm profile allow?

The 22 cm profile maintains a large interior volume even when the tent is closed. This allows you to:

  • Leave pillows, duvet and thermal insulation inside, even with the tent closed
  • Enjoy greater everyday comfort thanks to a thicker 7 cm mattress
  • Reduce the setup time when arranging bedding or insulation
3. How does the annex improve the use of the Taiga Pro?

The annex brings a more family-friendly dimension to the Taiga Pro by adding a 6 m² ground-level space directly connected to the tent. It creates a more comfortable and structured camp by facilitating the separation of spaces:

  • Living area (meals, relaxation)
  • Sleeping area
  • Storage area

It enhances the experience of a smooth and well-organised bivouac, perfectly suited for extended stays.

4. Can you carry equipment or attach an awning or shower tent directly on the Taiga Pro?

Yes. Once fitted with upper roof bars, the Taiga Pro allows you to carry equipment up to 100 kg while driving and 25 kg when stationary with the tent open, such as:

  • Paddleboard, surfboard, kayak
  • Roof box, bag or water tank
  • Outdoor equipment

And if you want a more complete living space at your camp, you can add side fixings to mount a side awning and/or a shower tent.

5. Which Taiga tent to choose: 13 cm, Pro or Z?

The choice depends on your vehicle, your usage and the level of comfort you are looking for.

Taiga 13 cm:

  • 75 kg, compatible with a wider range of vehicles
  • 13 cm profile, ideal when height is limited
  • 5 cm mattress
  • No interior storage

Taiga Pro:

  • 22 cm profile, allows you to leave bedding inside
  • 7 cm mattress
  • 90 kg, requires a vehicle capable of supporting this load dynamically

Taiga Z:

  • Z-opening, 360° panoramic view with double terrace (front/rear)
  • More height and interior volume
  • Premium version with accessories included
  • 95 kg, requires a vehicle capable of supporting this load dynamically
6. Taiga Pro or soft rooftop tent: how to choose?

One of the main advantages of the Taiga Pro is its speed of use. A hardshell requires fewer steps than a soft tent as there is no canvas to manage. It opens in 30 seconds and has built-in features such as interior LED lighting and an anti-condensation mattress underlay, reinforcing its premium positioning.

On the other hand, it is heavier than a compact soft model. You will need to ensure adequate roof load capacity and cross-bar compatibility above 90 kg. (Don't forget to include the weight of the roof bars.)

Soft rooftop tents, thanks to their larger sleeping surface, allow more flexible sleeping configurations for families.

7. Is there more condensation inside?

The Taiga Pro uses a highly technical and breathable Swisskings fabric (28,000 g/m²/24 h), capable of efficiently wicking away interior moisture. For example, two people produce up to 1,100 g of water vapour over 8 hours, which the fabric can easily handle. This performance is tested and certified (SGS – standard JIS L 1099:2021).

Ventilation is further enhanced by an opening at the foot of the sleeping area, in the lower part of the V-opening, promoting natural air circulation.

Result: your Swisskings fabric keeps you dry, with controlled thermal comfort and optimised ventilation.

8. What type of traveller is the Taiga Pro best suited for?

The Taiga Pro is ideal:

  • For regular travellers who frequently change bivouac spots and want to minimise setup effort
  • For those who prioritise comfort and storage
  • For extended stays with family or friends thanks to its annex and attachment system that allows adding an awning or shower tent

A model designed for a more comfortable and immersive experience.

Fully rollable fabric and mosquito net

Create a comfortable terrace from your rooftop tent and enjoy the unique experience of sleeping under the stars, protected by a mosquito net.

Adapt your Taiga Pro according to your day, the weather, and the season:

  • Either by keeping your inner fabric completely closed, allowing you to nap or extend your lazy mornings thanks to its opacity and black color. You can open the windows of the fabric, and the mosquito net, strategically placed on the outside, ensures perfect protection against insects.
  • Or by unzipping and fully rolling up the inner fabric, the mosquito net continues to protect you while you admire the starry sky and enjoy the gentle summer evening breeze. Sleeping under the stars above your car—what an experience, what a feeling of well-being!!!
  • Or by unzipping and also rolling up the mosquito net, you get the feeling of being both inside and outside, with a view of the surrounding landscape. Your rooftop tent then becomes your terrace for your greatest pleasure. You can relax, enjoy your favorite activities such as photography, reading, or family games while taking in the extraordinary setting of your bivouac. It's magical!!!

What does a 10,000 mm water column mean?

A value of 10,000 mm means that:

  • the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by a 10-meter-high column of water
  • without allowing water to penetrate

👉 In practical terms:

  • 10,000 mm = heavy rain + wind
  • pressure far higher than standard vertical rainfall
  • considered highly waterproof for outdoor textiles

What is the Water Repellency Spray Test?

The Water Repellency Spray Test measures a fabric’s ability to repel water. With a score of 95/100, the Swisskings fabric effectively repels water and ensures a dry interior, even during heavy rainfall.

Why this test is relevant for a rooftop tent

For a rooftop tent, the Spray Test verifies that:

  • water beads and runs off the fabric,
  • the fabric does not saturate quickly,
  • breathability remains effective (less saturation = less condensation),
  • comfort is maintained in light to heavy rain.

Why is a breathability rating of 28,000 g/m²/24 h essential?

This high value indicates the fabric’s ability to evacuate internal moisture. The Swisskings fabric can transmit approximately 1.164 kg of water vapor per m² per hour, and nearly 28,000 g/m²/24 h.

Unlike many rooftop tents on the market, Swisskings fabric has been independently tested by SGS according to the JIS L 1099:2021 (Method B1) standard.

This level of performance places Swisskings fabric among the very high-end outdoor materials, comparable to certain benchmark membranes, while retaining all the essential qualities required for a rooftop tent:

  • Thermal comfort: prevents heat and moisture buildup
  • Optimal ventilation: reduces condensation
  • Consistently dry interior: ideal for humid climates
  • Weather protection
  • Durability
  • Wind resistance

Why is a fabric free from harmful substances essential?

Some phthalates are classified as CMR substances (carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic) or as endocrine disruptors. As they are not permanently bound to plastics, they may gradually migrate into the air, dust or through direct contact.

Swisskings has developed a PVC-free technical fabric, compliant with current European regulations (REACH) and free from phthalates classified as SVHC.

“Is the Swisskings fabric safe for health, including for children or during prolonged use?”

The materials used for Swisskings rooftop tents have been tested using gas chromatography (GC), a reference analytical method allowing precise identification and quantification of regulated substances.

Test results show a level of 50 mg/kg, while the limit set by the European Union is 1,000 mg/kg, meaning a value 20 times below the authorized threshold.

This compliance ensures safe use, including during prolonged use in confined environments such as a rooftop tent, and within a family setting.

Swisskings prioritizes materials that meet European standards to ensure an optimal balance between performance, durability and user safety.

Advanced Plate Technology

The Taiga Series Pro plate is made of a sandwich panel with a honeycomb aluminum core, ensuring exceptional performance.

Plate Technical Features:
- Material: Sandwich structure with a honeycomb aluminum core, 100% recyclable.
- Lightweight: Easy to handle and install.
- Rigidity: Ultra-solid and resistant structure.
- Durability: Excellent resistance to fire, corrosion, and impacts.
- Stability: Withstands pressure, torsion, and mechanical constraints.

Why a thickness of 22 cm?
