Pop-up roof to increase interior volume
The Z-shaped platform system optimizes interior height, providing a generous sleeping volume and easy opening and closing. The pop-up roof can be opened simply by pushing by hand, while the hydraulic struts assist the opening. To close it, you can use the interior handle or the two removable straps. These straps are detachable and help you adjust the desired opening height. They also assist when zipping the mosquito net and allow you to reduce the height of the pop-up roof in windy conditions.
Fully rollable canvas and mosquito net
Transform your rooftop tent into a comfortable terrace and sleep under the stars while remaining protected by the mosquito net.
Adapt your Taiga Z Series according to your day, the weather and the season:
- By keeping the interior canvas completely closed, allowing you to nap or enjoy long mornings thanks to its opacity and black color. You can open the canvas windows, and the mosquito net, strategically positioned on the outside, ensures perfect protection against insects.
- By unzipping and fully rolling up the interior canvas, the mosquito net continues to protect you while you admire the starry sky and enjoy the gentle summer evening breeze. Sleeping under the stars above your vehicle—what an experience, what a feeling of well-being!
- By unzipping and rolling up the mosquito net as well, you feel both inside and outside, with a 180° view of the surrounding landscape. Your rooftop tent then becomes your terrace for pure enjoyment. You can relax, focus on your favorite activities such as photography, reading or family games, while enjoying the extraordinary setting you have chosen for your bivouac. It’s magical!
Advanced fabric technology – patented unique system
The Taiga Z Series fabric is tested and certified by SGS, offering an exceptional balance between breathability, comfort, strength and durability when facing harsh weather conditions.
Fabric technical specifications:
- Material: The fabric used is a technical textile S320 made of synthetic fibers, featuring a ripstop reinforcement structure (10-point plaid) and a functional coating.
- Waterproof rating: Water resistance of 10,000 mm, ensuring total protection against rain.
- Exceptional breathability: 1164.2 g/m²/h, allowing internal moisture to escape and preventing condensation.
- Water Repellency Spray Test: Score of 95/100 (AATCC TM22-2017), ensuring excellent water repellency.
- UV resistance: Rated 4.5/5, ensuring effective protection against prolonged sun exposure.
- No harmful substances: Compliant with environmental standards and guaranteed phthalate-free.
What does a 10,000 mm water column mean?
A value of 10,000 mm means that:
-
the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by a 10-meter-high water column
-
without allowing water to pass through
👉 In practical terms:
-
10,000 mm = heavy rain + wind
-
pressure far greater than standard vertical rainfall
-
level considered highly waterproof for outdoor textiles
What is the Water Repellency Spray Test?
The Water Repellency Spray Test measures a fabric’s ability to repel water. With a score of 95/100, the fabric of the Taiga Z Series effectively repels water and guarantees a dry interior, even during heavy rainfall.
Why is this test relevant for a rooftop tent
For a rooftop tent, the Spray Test verifies that:
-
water beads and runs off the fabric,
-
the fabric does not saturate quickly,
-
breathability remains effective (less saturation = less condensation),
-
comfort is maintained in light to heavy rain.
Why is breathability of 28,000 g/m²/24 h essential?
This high value indicates the fabric’s ability to evacuate internal moisture. This means that the Swisskings fabric can transmit 1.164 kg of water vapor over 11 m² of fabric in 1 hour and nearly 28,000 g/m²/24 h (28 kg of water vapor over 1 m² in 24 hours)!!!!
Unlike many rooftop tents on the market whose breathability is not quantified according to an international standard, the Swisskings fabric has been independently tested by SGS according to the JIS L 1099:2021 standard (method B1), with water vapor transmission measured at nearly 28,000 g/m²/24 h.
This level of performance places the Swisskings fabric among very high-end outdoor materials, comparable in moisture evacuation capacity to certain reference membranes on the market, while maintaining the essential qualities required for a rooftop tent:
- Thermal comfort: Prevents heat and humidity buildup.
- Optimal ventilation: Reduces condensation and keeps air fresh.
- Always dry interior: Ideal for humid climates.
- Weather protection
- Durability
- Wind resistance.
Why a fabric free from harmful substances is essential
Some phthalates are classified as CMR substances (carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic) or as endocrine disruptors. They are not permanently bound to plastic, which explains why they can gradually be released and end up in the air, dust, or through contact with the material.
We have developed a PVC-free technical textile, compliant with current European regulations (REACH) and containing no phthalates classified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
“Is the Swisskings tent fabric safe for health, especially for children or during prolonged use?”
The materials used for Swisskings rooftop tent fabrics have been tested by gas chromatography (GC), a reference analytical method used for the identification and precise quantification of regulated substances. The test can detect compounds at very low concentrations (mg/kg), ensuring a reliable assessment of regulatory compliance.
The analyses show a content of 50 mg/kg for the regulated substances, while the limit set by the European Union is 1,000 mg/kg. This corresponds to a level 20 times below the allowed threshold, providing a wide safety margin.
This compliance ensures that the fabric can be used safely, including during prolonged use, in confined environments such as a rooftop tent, and in a family setting.
Swisskings prioritizes materials that comply with current European standards in order to ensure an optimal balance between performance, durability and user safety.
Advanced base platform technology
The Taiga Z Series base platform is built using a sandwich panel with an aluminum honeycomb core, ensuring exceptional performance.
Base platform technical specifications:
- Material: Sandwich structure with aluminum honeycomb core, 100% recyclable.
- Lightweight: Easy to handle and install.
- Rigidity: Ultra-strong and highly resistant structure.
- Resistance: Excellent resistance to fire, corrosion and impacts.
- Stability: Withstands pressure, torsion and mechanical stress.
Why a thickness of 22 cm?
Thanks to its 22 cm thickness, the tent allows you to leave thermal insulation, duvets and pillows in place when closing, offering comfort with no compromise and simplified packing.
Practicality and Comfort
- 1 telescopic aluminum ladder (max 230 cm), removable thanks to a quick-release fastening system allowing removal in a single operation.
- 1 rain fly Oxford 400D polyester fabric, waterproof rating W/R 3000 mm
- 1 high-density mattress (30), 7 cm foam thickness, supplied with a cotton cover for optimal comfort.
- 2 pre-mounted aluminum bars spaced 60 cm apart to connect the tent to the vehicle’s roof bars. Quick and simplified installation.
- 2 heating ports allow connection of an external heating duct.
- 4 hydraulic struts assist opening and closing.
Opening and closing
- Innovative hydraulic system.
- Opening time: 10 seconds.
- Closing time: 60 seconds.
